IAMDDB, the stage name of Diana Adelaide Rocha De Brito, coined it as an acronym for I Am Diana De Brito, and she uses it to front a sound she calls 'urban jazz', a genre blending mix of soul, trap, R&B, jazz inflections and neo soul that sits comfortably alongside none of its influences. Based in Manchester, the Angolan Portuguese artist built her reputation through a run of EPs and mixtapes between 2016 and 2019, landing third on the BBC Sound of 2018 poll and a spot on Forbes' 30 Under 30 European Entertainment List. Her breakout single 'Shade' racked up tens of millions of YouTube views, and her 2019 mixtape Swervvvvv.5, which Pitchfork praised as her best work, weaves in Portuguese vocals alongside its freewheeling mix of trap and neo soul. She has kept her career entirely independent, founding her own imprint Union IV Recordings and never signing to a major label. Live, she has shared stages with Lauryn Hill, Bryson Tiller and Jhené Aiko and played Glastonbury, Afropunk and Reading and Leeds. In 2024 she released her debut full length album Love is War, Vol. 6, a 15 track project that includes the collaboration 'Rasta Pasta' with Masego.
