About
The International Ensemble Modern Academy, better known as IEMA, was founded in 2003 as the training arm of Germany's celebrated Ensemble Modern. Each year it brings together fourteen talented young musicians who tour across Europe as the IEMA Ensemble, gaining hands on professional experience along the way. The ensemble has a close relationship with the Gaudeamus Festival, which regularly presents its concerts as a platform for emerging talent. The repertoire the group performs tends to spotlight new music, with composers at early stages of their careers sharing the programme alongside more established names. Past programmes have included works by Anne Castex, Haotian Yu (who held a composer residency with IEMA), Akim Zvarych, Sing Yat Chen and Anibal Vidal.
