About
Ukrainian pianist Illia Fialko, based in Berlin, caught attention when he was brought in as a stand in for Youri Egorov in the Dutch film YOURI, a film about the friendship between writer Jan Brokken and pianist Youri Egorov. To fill the role, Fialko had to absorb Egorov's interpretations, physical mannerisms and tempos in precise detail, matching footage already shot. He studied at the Lysenko special music school in Kyiv under Boris Fedorov, then moved to the Netherlands in 2018 to continue his studies. He completed his master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of professor Naum Grubert, finishing with a perfect score of ten. He now performs across the Netherlands, bringing his own interpretive voice to the classical and art song repertoire.
