In Mourning have been quietly building one of the most compelling discographies in Swedish melodic death metal since their 2008 debut Shrouded Divine. The Falun area band blends progressive metal density with death doom atmosphere, carving out a sound that sits well apart from the more streamlined end of the genre. Their third album The Weight of Oceans even cracked the Finnish charts, no small feat for a band playing music this heavy and layered. Over seven full length albums they have refined that signature approach without ever sanding off the edges. Their 2021 release The Bleeding Veil came out on Dalapop, and their drummer at the time, Joakim Strandberg Nilsson, also pulled session duties for Dark Tranquillity. Since early 2024, Cornelius Althammer of the German doom metal band Ahab has been behind the kit. Their seventh album The Immortal arrived in 2025, adding another chapter to a catalogue that rewards patient listening.
