About

Also known as: Ирина Александровна Ланькова, Ирина Ланькова

Russian born Belgian pianist Irina Lankova has built a reputation on stages like Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, and Het Concertgebouw, winning over audiences with what critics call a genuinely poetic touch and an infinite palette of colours. Her approach to recitals sets her apart: she introduces each piece with a short spoken explanation, making classical music feel welcoming rather than intimidating. That blend of warmth and interpretive depth earned her a spot among Steinway Artists after her Wigmore Hall debut in 2008. Her discography covers Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Chopin, Schubert, and Bach, drawing praise for great sensitivity and compelling authority. A standout project is Goldberg Visions, a multimedia collaboration with visual artist Isabelle Françaix that pairs Bach's Goldberg Variations with video art. Her 2021 album Elégie and the 2023 release A Moment Illuminating Eternity show she keeps returning to the Russian and Romantic repertoire she clearly loves. Since 2015 she has also served as artistic director of the International Max Festival in Belgium.
