Iron Chic built their reputation the hard way, doing almost everything themselves out of Long Island, New York. Guitarist Phil Douglas records the band at his own studio, singer Jason Lubrano handles all the artwork, and bassist Mike Bruno runs Dead Broke Rekerds, which has put out most of their releases. That kind of full DIY operation has earned them serious respect in punk circles, and their albums have pulled positive notices from Pitchfork, Noisey and PunkNews.org along the way. Their third album, You Can't Stay Here, came out on SideOneDummy in 2017 and marked a shift in tone, written in response to Lubrano's divorce and the death of former member Rob McAllister. Darker and more experimental than what came before, it shows a band willing to push beyond the familiar. They supported it on the road with Propagandhi, Hot Water Music and Heartsounds, and followed it up with a split alongside Toys That Kill drawn from those same sessions.
