About

Also known as: Jack Martin Blades

Jack Blades has been one of rock's most quietly prolific figures since the late 1970s, turning up as bassist and co lead vocalist in Night Ranger, a founding member of Damn Yankees, and a collaborator with everyone from Aerosmith to Ringo Starr. Night Ranger's run through the 1980s brought multi million selling albums and a string of hit singles, while Damn Yankees scored multi platinum success with their debut and a gold selling single in "High Enough". Blades co wrote four Aerosmith songs with Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Tommy Shaw, and appeared on Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood. Beyond those marquee projects, Blades has kept busy in ways that might surprise even fans who think they know his catalog. His work with Tommy Shaw under the Shaw Blades name produced two albums, including a covers record celebrating their shared influences. In 2004 he teamed up with Japanese guitarist Tak Matsumoto, landing a number one album on the Oricon chart and contributing the theme to the film Ultraman: The Next. He has also released two solo albums and spent several years as a member of Revolution Saints alongside Deen Castronovo and Doug Aldrich.
