About
Also known as: Jasmine Choi
Jasmine Choi made history as the first Korean born member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, where she held the principal flute chair from 2012 to 2013. Before that she served as associate principal flute of the Cincinnati Symphony under Paavo Järvi, and her debut recording, Jasmine Choi Plays Mozart, came out on Sony BMG back in 2006. What sets her apart beyond orchestral work is her appetite for transcription: she has adapted the violin concerti of Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky for flute, along with Saint Saens's Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. Her discography spans Claude Bolling's jazz inflected suite, Telemann's 12 Fantasies for Solo Flute, and free improvisations on Trio Joy. She spent several years as artist in residence for both the Sejong Arts Center in Seoul and the New York Classical Players, and in 2025 joined the teaching staff at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music as a flute professor.
