Few guitarists can claim stints in Born of Osiris, Chelsea Grin, and All That Remains before going solo, but Jason Richardson has done exactly that. The Virginia native built a reputation for jaw dropping technical playing in the metalcore and progressive metal scenes, and when he finally stepped away from Chelsea Grin in 2015 to focus on his own music, it paid off quickly. His 2016 debut solo record I, produced by Taylor Larson and featuring Luke Holland on drums alongside guests like Mark Holcomb, Spencer Sotelo, and Jeff Loomis, made a serious case for him as one of the sharpest guitarists in the genre. His follow up, II, arrived in 2022 and again paired him with Holland, this time pulling together singles he had been dropping since 2018, including "Tendinitis" and "Upside Down" with Polyphia's Tim Henson. He also spent several years as a full member of All That Remains, appearing on their 2025 album Antifragile. Guest spots on tracks by Polyphia, Veil of Maya, and Falling in Reverse show just how sought after his fretwork is across the scene.
