Few Belgian artists can claim a number one single for eight weeks straight, but Jasper Steverlinck did exactly that with his cover of "Life on Mars" back in 2003, and his solo debut Songs of Innocence sat at the top of the album chart for five weeks. The Ghent singer made his name fronting Arid, a band that played Rock Werchter multiple times and opened for acts like Suede and Counting Crows before Steverlinck stepped out on his own. His range goes well beyond straightforward pop. He sang every track on the Guilt Machine album On This Perfect Day, a progressive metal project put together by Dutch composer Arjen Anthony Lucassen, and he appeared on Within Temptation's album Resist, lending his voice to the single Firelight. His 2018 solo album Night Prayer went gold and spent five consecutive weeks at number one in Flanders, backed by over 60,000 tickets sold on the supporting tour. His most recent album, The Healing, arrived in 2025.
