The Javus Quartett is an Austrian string quartet that programs with clear artistic conviction. Their concerts tend to place strong, contrasting voices in dialogue with each other, and a recent programme paired two major figures of twentieth century modernism, Grażyna Bacewicz and Dmitri Shostakovich, showing a taste for music with real weight and edge. Alongside that repertoire they also champion new work, including a piece by composer Oscar Jockel.
