About
Jay Safari is a rapper who got a big break by stepping outside his usual lane. His track "Dance" swaps the rap sound for sultry, melodic singing over clattering hats and syncopated kicks, a nod to 2000s R&B and the Pharrell In My Mind era. The song caught fire on TikTok, racking up around 2000 videos, and he has openly credited Pharrell as an influence, even using the name as a hashtag. His regular material leans contemporary hip hop, with trap and R&B woven in, and he writes about love, loss and self discovery. Melodies and hooks that stick are his strong suit. Listeners arriving through "Dance" get a surprise when they dig into the rest of his catalogue, which is much more rap focused. He is from Florida.
