About
Jessica Moss has spent over two decades as the violin and backing voice in Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra La La Band, the Montreal post rock outfit she joined in 2001. She's also a founding member of Black Ox Orkestar, and her violin has turned up on records by Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Vic Chesnutt and a long list of other Montreal and Toronto acts. Under her own name she's put out a run of solo albums, starting with Under Plastic Island in 2015 and continuing through Pools of Light, Entanglement, Phosphenes and Galaxy Heart, with Unfolding arriving in 2025. Before all that she played in the alt rock band Fidget, toured with the Geraldine Fibbers, and regularly sat in with local Arabic and Balkan ensembles. Outside of music she makes illuminated boxes and metal flowers, and scores films.
