About
Also known as: Jess Reyes, Jessica Reyes
Jessie Reyez built her reputation the hard way, with her 2016 single "Figures" earning triple platinum in Canada and a live performance slot at the BET Awards before she even had a debut album out. Her short film "Gatekeeper" went further, calling out exploitation in the music industry by name, which set the tone for a career that has never shied away from uncomfortable truths. Behind the scenes, she has penned hits for others too, most notably co writing "One Kiss" for Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. Her 2020 debut album "Before Love Came to Kill Us" peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and landed on the Polaris Music Prize shortlist, cementing her as one of Canada's most distinctive voices in contemporary R&B. She has collaborated with Eminem, 6lack, and contributed to The Lion King soundtrack. More recently, a 2024 video with Ari Lennox titled "Just Like That" signals she is far from slowing down.
