About
JME, born Jamie Adenuga, is one of grime's most committed figures, a co founder of the influential crew and label Boy Better Know alongside his brother Skepta. He came up producing on gear as lo fi as Game Boy Camera and Mario Paint before developing into a sharp MC with a reputation for no nonsense output. His 2010 album Blam! gathered a run of singles including a track with Wiley, and his 2015 record Integrity> landed at number twelve on the UK Albums Chart, earning a nomination for the IMPALA Album of the Year Award. His 2019 album Grime MC, released exclusively on CD and vinyl, was arguably his finest hour. Pitchfork called it "the strongest record of his career", and it came after an eleven month break from social media that felt very much in keeping with his no hype approach. Outside the music, he has collaborated with YouTube collective the Sidemen and made headlines when Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn turned up on his Snapchat to push voter registration ahead of the 2017 general election.
