About
Job Karma turn their shows into full audiovisual events: the Wrocław duo, formed in 1998 by Maciej Frett and Aureliusz Pisarzewski, play alongside visuals by artist Arkadiusz Bagiński. Their sound is built from sound generators and analogue and digital electronics, with trance rhythms, ambient textures, samples, movie dialogue and archival radio transmissions folded in. The themes are bleak on purpose, aimed at the dangers of modern civilization and at social, political and religious issues. Since 2000 they have run Rytuał (Ritual), a project that pairs live performance with sacral and industrial architecture. Frett and Bagiński also organise the Wrocław Industrial Festival, and the band keeps friendly ties with In The Nursery and the Sheffield label Redroom. Their 2005 album Strike includes a cover of Kraftwerk's Radioactivity, and in 2012 they teamed up with Matt Howden as 7JK, Sieben Vs. Job Karma for the album Anthems Flesh. Other records include Ebola, Tschernobyl and Society Suicide.
