About
Joesef went from posting clips online to winning Best Breakthrough Artist at the Scottish Music Awards in 2019, and he'd barely played live by then. His first proper show was at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut that same year. The Glasgow singer came up through a run of EPs, including Play Me Something Nice, Does It Make You Feel Good? and Late To The Party, with the middle one landing a nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. He also made the long list for the BBC's Sound of 2020. His taste runs from Tyler, the Creator and The Cure to A Tribe Called Quest and Arlo Parks, whom he supported on her international tour. Elton John has said he enjoys his music, which is no small endorsement. His debut album Permanent Damage, 13 tracks long, arrived in January 2023, and singles like "Joe" and "Just Come Home with Me Tonight" came with official videos along the way. He's kept the releases coming since, with "Cynical" and "Stephanie's Place" among them.
