Joey Valence & Brae are a hip hop duo out of State College, Pennsylvania, who went from making tracks in their college dorm to earning an RIAA Gold record in just a few years. Their breakout single "Punk Tactics" is packed with video game references, internet meme nods and pop culture callbacks, and the music video was shot entirely on a Nintendo DSi. The Beastie Boys comparison gets thrown around a lot, and the duo leans into it, citing them as their number one influence. Their sound sits somewhere between boom bap, rap rock and DIY chaos, and they have built serious momentum since 2021. Their second album No Hands featured contributions from Danny Brown, Z Trip and Terror Reid, and they covered a Charli XCX track on the deluxe edition. They also appeared on Pendulum's "Napalm" and opened for Sum 41 on the band's final tour. Their third album Hyperyouth, released in 2025, marks their debut on RCA and includes collaborations with JPEGMafia and IDK.
