Johnny Orlando built his fanbase the old fashioned YouTube way, posting covers of pop hits as a kid and racking up over 100,000 views in a month on his very first upload. That early momentum turned into a real career: he signed with Universal Music Canada in 2018, dropped a string of singles and EPs, and won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Canadian Act four times running between 2019 and 2022. His debut album All the Things That Could Go Wrong landed in 2022 and pulled in more than 150 million streams worldwide, proving he had moved well past the cover video phase. Songwriting wise, he draws inspiration from Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes, but also from Billie Eilish, Drake, The Weeknd, and Alessia Cara. His EP The Ride followed in 2024, keeping the momentum going. In 2023 he also joined an all star version of Serena Ryder's charity single to support youth mental health, which says something about the kind of artist he is becoming.
