About
Also known as: J Devil
Jonathan Davis is the voice that gave nu metal its raw, unsettling edge. As frontman of Korn, he built a trademark sound out of angry growls, high pitched wails and sudden shifts into something eerie and atmospheric, all wrapped around deeply personal lyrics. Korn became a pioneering act of the genre, and Davis's distinctive presence influenced a generation of musicians who came after. Beyond Korn, he co wrote and produced the score and soundtrack for Queen of the Damned with Richard Gibbs, his first work outside the band. In 2007 he started a side project, Jonathan Davis and the SFA, then put out his first solo album in 2018. He's also a multi instrumentalist who plays guitar, drums, bagpipes, piano, upright bass, violin and clarinet, and he DJs as his alter ego JDevil. Collaborations have taken him from metal to rap, world music and electronic.
