About
Also known as: Jordi Rossy
Jorge Rossy, also known as Jordi Rossy, is a Barcelona born Spanish jazz musician who has made his name as a drummer, pianist, and vibraphonist across decades of serious work. He spent years as the drummer of choice for a remarkable circle of New York players, anchoring the Brad Mehldau Trio from 1995 onward and appearing on the entire run of the celebrated Art of the Trio series. Along the way he recorded or performed with Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lee Konitz, Charlie Haden, Carla Bley, Chick Corea, and many others. After returning to Barcelona in 2000, Rossy shifted his focus to piano, a move that eventually led to a string of albums under his own name. His 2021 ECM release Puerta is a landmark in that chapter, and he followed it with Luna in 2023. The vibes side of his playing got its own spotlight on Stay There, alongside saxophonist Mark Turner and guitarist Peter Bernstein. Few musicians cover this much ground across instruments without losing focus, but Rossy manages it with real authority.
