Joshua Chuquimia Crampton is one half of Los Thuthanaka, the duo he formed with his sibling Chuquimamani Condori, whose 2025 self titled album was a surprise Bandcamp release that Pitchfork named the best album of the year. It reworks Andean forms like huayño, caporal and kullawada in experimental electronic shapes, and The Wire ranked it third on its year end list. His solo work is a different, louder beast. Since 2020 he has put out five albums, starting with The Heart's Wash, a 96 minute run of guitar pieces composed with hand drawn images and sequences of events instead of standard notation. Later records like Profundo Amor and Estrella Por Estrella pile up layers of guitar, distortion and tape manipulation, sometimes drawing shoegaze comparisons, though he describes it as loud guitars layered like a ceremonial procession. His latest solo album is Anata, from 2026.
