JT built her name as one half of Miami rap duo City Girls alongside Yung Miami, signing with Quality Control Music after their debut track went viral on SoundCloud in 2017. The duo broke into the mainstream off the back of an uncredited feature on Drake's "In My Feelings" and followed it up with albums that pulled in features from Cardi B, Doja Cat, and Lil Baby. What makes JT's story particularly striking is that she served two years in federal prison during the height of City Girls' early momentum, yet came out and kept building. She launched her solo career properly in 2023 with "No Bars", then hit her stride in 2024 with "Okay", a track that went viral during her tour and landed her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut solo mixtape City Cinderella dropped in July 2024, cementing her as a force outside the duo context. She also stacked up guest credits with Summer Walker, Nicki Minaj, Kali Uchis, and Doechii along the way.
