About
Juan Pérez Floristán is a Spanish classical pianist from Seville whose competition record is genuinely hard to argue with. He took first prize and the audience award at the 2015 Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition, then added the Kissinger Klavierolymp in Germany in 2018, and topped it all off with first prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv in 2021. That's a serious sweep across some of the most prestigious piano contests around. His playing leans into the big Romantic and late Romantic repertoire, with Rachmaninoff and Ginastera featuring prominently in his recent work. He trained at the Reina Sofía School of Music and later at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, working with pianists including Galina Eguiazarova and Eldar Nebolsin. On his YouTube channel he shares everything from competition performances to behind the scenes looks at learning concertos and sonatas, which gives fans a pretty candid window into how he works.
