About
Three classically trained oboists make up the Kalami Trio: Andrea Budau, Louise van Eygen and Guillermo Rubio Garcia. The group grew out of their shared time at the Amsterdam Conservatory, where two Spanish musicians and one Belgian found common ground. All three had already begun their conservatory studies before arriving in Amsterdam, at institutions in Lleida, Kortrijk and Caravaca respectively, and all three have played in the Dutch National Youth Orchestra as well as other ensembles across Europe. Their repertoire leans into the folk and nationalist traditions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, drawing on composers such as Ralph Vaughan Williams, Edvard Grieg, Béla Bartók and Manuel de Falla.
