KAMAUU's song "Jusfayu" quietly racked up over 10 million streams and landed on both an episode of HBO's Insecure and the FIFA 17 soundtrack, which tells you a lot about his range. The Washington D.C. born singer and rapper blends alternative r&b, neo soul and pop rap into something genuinely hard to pin down. His 2016 debut EP A Gorgeous Fortune came packaged with a six part short film series, one video per track, which set the tone for an artist who takes the visual side of music seriously. He co founded the Brooklyn based artist collective DoloBhana that same year and showed up on the soundtrack for the film The Birth of a Nation. In 2023 he signed with Atlantic and dropped his second album LACUNA in The House of Mirrors, an 11 track project, before rounding out the year with an instrumental Afrobeats inspired collaboration with producer Mike Schultz.
