About
Kamerkoor Stampij is a chamber choir based in Zwolle, made up of semi professional singers. They have a reputation for variety and for adventurous productions where the experience of the music comes first. The choir picks its venues and repertoire with care, aiming to turn choral music into something that pulls in a wide audience rather than just the usual concert crowd. A good example of their approach is pairing Ariel Ramírez's Misa Criolla with his Navidad Nuestra, two Argentine works set side by side. Hans Tijssen conducts, and they have performed these pieces together with Argentine musicians Nicolas Diez and Javier Rodríguez, who have spent years giving authentic readings of Ramírez's music. Ramírez himself reportedly considered Rodríguez's voice his favourite for the Misa Criolla. The result blends classical choral singing with Argentine folk tradition.
