About
Kay Slice builds music around the rhythms and melodies of West African highlife, weaving them together with sharp, personal lyrics that touch on identity, migration and belonging. Originally from the Netherlands with Ghanaian roots, he has developed a sound that honours tradition without getting stuck in it. Live, he brings that blend to life with his band, mixing Ghanaian percussion, balafon and energetic grooves with rap delivered in a way that feels both personal and immediate. His debut album 'From Back To Back' established him as a distinctive voice in the Dutch music scene. His follow up record 'Take U Highlife', co produced with Anton de Bruin and made in collaboration with his Ghanaian ensemble, pushes further into the territory where highlife and hip hop reinforce each other naturally.
