About
Also known as: 遠藤一元
Kazumoto Endo is a Japanese noise musician whose work sits at the sharp end of harsh noise and electronic sound manipulation. He first appeared under the Killer Bug moniker in the mid 1990s, building a reputation within Japan's noise elite before stepping out under his own name in 1997. His sound is built on heavily compressed waves of distortion and feedback, fragmented electronic signals and abrupt structural shifts that give his performances a raw, improvisational edge. The 1999 album While You Were Out is widely regarded as a landmark in Japanese harsh noise, and it did a great deal to spread his name internationally across the extreme music community. Rapid, unpredictable transitions are a hallmark of his style, keeping listeners off balance in a way that sets him apart from noise artists who favour slow burn immersion.
