About
KCOV Amsterdam is a choir that takes on large scale choral repertoire with full orchestral support. One of their signature projects is a performance of Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, a sweeping work for choir, orchestra, and soloists that pairs soprano and baritone voices. For this they collaborate with the Promenade Orkest and work under the direction of conductor Peter van der Leeuw. The music draws its power from the contrast between grand choral passages and intimate solo moments, and Brahms wrote it with an explicitly comforting intent, reaching out to anyone carrying grief.
