About
Ken Yates has a knack for quiet, carefully crafted folk songwriting that clearly resonates beyond just his corner of Canada. The Ontario born, Berklee trained singer songwriter picked up two Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2017, taking home both English Songwriter of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year. His 2016 album Huntsville, produced by Jim Bryson, marked a real step forward, and 2020's Quiet Talkers cemented his reputation for understated, emotionally precise writing. Cerulean followed in 2022, and his most recent album, Total Cinema, landed in 2025 on Tone Tree Music. His back catalogue stretches to his 2013 debut Twenty Three, and along the way he picked up the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award for the song "The One That Got Away".
