Khaid's rise is one of those stories that feels almost accidental but clearly wasn't. The Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper first caught serious attention with a viral Instagram freestyle that landed him a deal with Sydney Talker's Neville Records in 2022. His debut single "With You" cracked the Nigeria TurnTable Top 50 almost immediately, and his six track EP Diversity followed shortly after, described by The Native as a collage of vibrant sounds that hit both the young and the young at heart. He kept building momentum from there. "Amala", featuring Zlatan and produced by Rexxie, made waves on TikTok and charted on the Nigeria TurnTable Top 100. Then "Jolie" climbed all the way to number 5 on the charts and picked up a cosign from Davido, who reportedly played it a hundred times at home. Apple Music named him their Up Next Artist for Nigeria, and Spotify flagged him as one of the emerging Nigerian acts to watch. His 2024 track "Orobo" has since become a fan favourite.
