About
Also known as: キアスモス
Kiasmos pairs Ólafur Arnalds, the Icelandic multi instrumentalist known for weaving strings and piano into ambient electronic music, with Faroese producer Janus Rasmussen of Bloodgroup. Together they craft a sound that sits somewhere between minimal techno, microhouse, and something far more cinematic than either label suggests. The two first connected when Ólafur worked as a sound engineer for Rasmussen's Bloodgroup project, and the chemistry clearly stuck. Their 2014 self titled debut on Erased Tapes made a real impression, and their 2017 EP Blurred earned praise from PopMatters as one of the most emotionally engaging electronic releases of that year. A decade into the project, they returned with their second album II in 2024, and recent live videos for tracks like Looped and Squared show the duo still very much in motion.
