About
Leeds metalcore outfit Killing Me Softly play like they have a genuine grievance with the early 2000s for ending too soon. Their sound pulls hard from that era, think Poison the Well and first album Killswitch Engage, but wrapped in a modern layer of violence and dissonance that makes it feel anything but nostalgic. Guitars switch between chaotic technical runs and genuinely bittersweet clean passages, while vocalist Roberts leans on high pitched screams before dropping into death growls or clean singing, keeping things emotionally unpredictable throughout. Formed in 2023 from the ashes of Leeds band Gutter, they hit the ground running with their debut album Autumn Lost in Silence and followed it up with the 2025 EP To Forever Fall Through God's Safety Net. Critics have flagged them as one of the standout metalcore bands the UK has put out in years, and they are widely seen as central figures in the broader 2020s revival of that early 2000s sound.
