About
Klaartje van Velhoven is a soprano who works as a soloist both in the Netherlands and abroad, with a repertoire that ranges from the serious to the playful. One of her more charming projects is Bakkie Bach, a short comic opera built around the idea of a father trying to cure his daughter of a stubborn coffee habit, with a bit of love thrown into the mix. She performs it in a trio setting with tenor Mattijs van de Woerd, whose credits include the Nationale Reisopera, the Nederlandse Reisopera and the Concertgebouw Orchestra, and accordionist Renée Bekker. Bekker stands in for a full orchestra, moving between classical and modern repertoire. It makes for an intimate, lighthearted way into opera.
