About
Klarinetkwartet K4 is a clarinet quartet made up of four dedicated amateur players from Brabant: Tatiana van der Heijde, Petri Smulders, Désirée van Stenis and Joost van Eekelen. They teamed up in 2024, driven by a shared love of chamber music, and they like to pitch their programmes somewhere between the familiar and the more demanding. Their repertoire leans toward American music. They have arranged selections from Bernstein's West Side Story, sometimes joined by violinist Anita Swinkels, and they also play works by George Gershwin and Astor Piazzolla. That is music where classical tradition rubs shoulders with jazz, tango and folk influences, which suits the warm sound and lively interplay of four clarinets rather well.
