Kllo is a Melbourne electro pop duo built around the chemistry between vocalist Chloe Kaul and her cousin, producer Simon Lam. Kaul brings warm, intimate vocals while Lam handles the production, and together they've carved out a sound that sits somewhere between moody electronic music and polished pop. Their debut EP Cusp arrived in 2014, followed by Well Worn in 2016, and the two have been quietly building a devoted following ever since. Their 2017 debut album Backwater was the moment things really clicked, landing strong reviews with a Metacritic score of 76 out of 100. The follow up, Maybe We Could, came out in 2020 and kept the streak going with generally favorable notices. Lam's background in jazz drumming gives the production an instinctive rhythmic feel, and Kaul's vocals keep everything grounded and emotionally direct. It's the kind of electronic music that sounds best late at night with headphones on.
