Konshens, born Garfield Delano Spence in Kingston, Jamaica, built his reputation as one of dancehall's most versatile performers, racking up hits like "Gal Dem A Talk", "Do Sumn" and "Bruk Off Yuh Back", the last of which clocked over 160 million YouTube views and earned a Chris Brown remix in 2017. Before going solo, he ran as one half of the duo SoJah with his brother Delus, and that family connection stayed strong when he launched his own label, Subkonshus, in 2010. His 2005 single "Pon Di Corner" cracked open Japan in a big way, leading to a tour and a Japan only album release through the Koyashi label. He has pulled off a wide range of collabs over the years, appearing alongside Enrique Iglesias and Matoma on "I Don't Dance (Without You)", featuring on a Chainsmokers remix, and popping up on tracks with Doja Cat, Cardi B and Eva Simons. His song "Gun Shot a Fire" landed on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack in 2013, and "Jamaican Dance" made it into Just Dance 3. He has released a steady string of albums since 2010, with titles including Mental Maintenance, It Feel Good and Red Reign.
