About
Koyaman take old Eastern Mediterranean melodies and run them through breakbeats, dub and a bit of urban attitude, and the result is hypnotic, danceable and surprisingly playful. The Greek trio is built around Kostas Tsarouchis on oud, Manolis Christodoulou on kanun, and Yiannis Rizopoulos on drums, percussion and electronic pads. The oud and kanun sit up front, while loops and electronics add pulsing layers underneath. All three come from a deep grounding in traditional music, paired with a real urge to experiment. Their self titled debut album arrived in 2025. Live, they lean on improvisation and humour, and they have a reputation for pulling a crowd onto the dance floor. They have played notable stages and festivals in Greece, Istanbul, Cyprus and elsewhere in Europe, including the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) and sold out nights at Kyttaro Live Club, and they have worked with Makis Tsikos and Jerome Kaluta.
