Few Finnish bands have racked up numbers like KUUMAA. The Helsinki pop four piece signed to Universal Music Group off a single demo in 2016, and by the time their self titled debut dropped in 2019 they were already festival regulars. The real breakthrough came with "Tulipalo", a song that hit number one on the Official Finnish Charts nine times and now sits past 30 million streams. Their Eurovision entry "Ylivoimainen" in 2023 finished fifth in the national selection but somehow became an even bigger hit afterward, spending 12 consecutive weeks at number one. The band took home Emma Gaala's Band of the Year award two years running, in 2023 and 2024, while their album Hyvikset ja pahikset swept Album of the Year, Pop of the Year and Best Seller of the Year. Their third album Pisara meressä landed in April 2024 and sold out the Helsinki Ice Hall on launch night.
