Larry June raps about passive income, healthy living, and making it on your own terms, and he lives it too. The San Francisco rapper has quietly built one of the more self sufficient careers in West Coast hip hop, self releasing 19 projects before landing on Empire Distribution with his 2021 breakout Orange Print. His sound pulls from Bay Area legends, and The Ringer compared his mouthpiece to Mac Dre and his soul to RBL Posse, which is about as high a compliment as it gets in those circles. Follow ups Spaceships on the Blade and The Great Escape cemented him as a serious force rather than a regional curiosity. He was briefly signed to Warner Records but walked away when the label lost interest, went independent, and ended up more profitable for it. His ad libs alone, "Yee hee" and "Good job, Larry", have become instantly recognisable.
