About
Also known as: Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, Loivey, Loyvey, Luyfey, Luyvey, 林冰
Laufey blends jazz pop, bossa nova, and classical influences into something that feels genuinely singular, and the numbers back it up. Her 2023 album Bewitched won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards and spawned the breakout hit "From the Start", while her debut album Everything I Know About Love had already peaked at number one on Billboard's Alternative New Artist Album chart. A trained cellist who once performed as a soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, she brings real musical depth to a style that can sound effortless and intimate at the same time. Signed to AWAL, a deal that lets her keep control of her work, Laufey built a devoted following partly through TikTok covers of jazz standards that the New York Times described as casually elegant. Her third album, A Matter of Time, arrived in August 2025 and has already taken home Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Grammy Awards. A recent music video for "Lover Girl" suggests she is keeping busy, and the momentum shows no sign of slowing.
