About
Leo van Doeselaar, born in Goes in the Netherlands, is one of those organists whose range genuinely impresses. He covers centuries of repertoire as an organist, pianist and fortepianist, and has played alongside conductors including Riccardo Chailly and Mariss Jansons as well as nearly every major baroque ensemble director you could name, from Philippe Herreweghe to Gustav Leonhardt. His recording of Paul Hindemith's Kammermusik no. 7 with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on Decca picked up a Grammy Award, and his work on Heinrich Scheidemann organ pieces earned the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. He has been a fixture in the All of Bach project run by the Netherlands Bach Society, clocking up appearances in over a hundred productions for that series alone. For two decades he has formed a piano duo with Wyneke Jordans, recording repertoire from Beethoven and Schubert through to Ravel and Stravinsky. He held a professorship at the Universität der Künste in Berlin from 1995 to 2019, and serves as titular organist at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the historic Van Hagerbeer organ in the Pieterskerk in Leiden.
