Les Discrets is the brainchild of Fursy Teyssier, a Lyon based musician who also works as an illustrator and film director, and the band functions as a space where those art forms bleed into each other. Starting out as a solo project in 2003, the group eventually expanded to include vocalist Audrey Hadorn and drummer Winterhalter, with whom they recorded the debut album Septembre et Ses Dernières Pensées in 2010. That record drew comparisons across genres, dark and romantic without fitting neatly into any box. Their sound has shifted over three albums, moving from shoegaze and blackgaze territory into indie rock and trip hop textures on the 2017 release Prédateurs. Teyssier has been candid about the slow pace of new material, attributing it to his full time work as a film animator, though he has left the door open for another album when the inspiration returns. Live shows are a different matter entirely: he has said he simply does not enjoy reproducing the music on stage, so do not hold your breath for a reunion set.
