Lezaam Beets

About

Lezaam Beets is a trombonist who has built a solid reputation in the Dutch jazz scene in a short time. He moved to Amsterdam in 2021 to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and has since played with New Cool Collective, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and the Dutch National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has also taken his own music to stages like Super Sonic Jazz Festival and North Sea Jazz. In his playing, space, connection and personal growth come first. That outlook shapes the way he works with other people too. He is a regular face at the BIRDsessions in Rotterdam, has performed there as part of The Nest, and later took over as host of a weekly jam residency. His aim is to turn it into more than a jam session: a meeting point where players, singers, rappers, poets and dancers from Rotterdam and Amsterdam trade ideas and end up on stage with people they might never otherwise have met.
