About
Lieve Hemel is a musical theatre show built around the old Bible story of Ruth, which presenter and singer Joris Linssen uses to ask what it means to live well right now. The spark came when he wandered into a church in Kampen that was sheltering an Armenian family, the Babayants, for months. Their resilience and the volunteers around them stayed with him, and they echo what Ruth's story is about: letting go, finding courage, and who gets to belong. That became the question running through the whole show, whether there is still room under the heavens for everyone. Linssen performs with two musicians. Myrthe van de Weetering plays violin and double bass and sings, while Vera Marijt takes piano and keys and sings too. Together they mix vulnerable stories, familiar music and personal reflection, touching on fear, surrender, loss and starting over. It is a production by Nachtzon Media together with the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, following their earlier show In Gods naam with Bas Ragas.
