Lilith Czar, the stage name of Juliet Simms, spent years earning her stripes as the frontwoman and guitarist of Automatic Loveletter before going it alone. The band built a loyal following through relentless touring, including multiple runs on the Warped Tour circuit, and released two full length albums before splitting in 2011. A runner up finish on Season 2 of NBC's The Voice brought wider attention, where she turned in memorable covers of "Roxanne" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World", but a deal with Universal Records fell apart over creative control. She spent years as an independent artist, releasing EPs and singles on her own terms, before signing with Sumerian Records in 2019. The rebrand to Lilith Czar in 2021 felt like a genuine reset. That same year she dropped her debut under the name, Created From Filth and Dust, a record that leaned into a harder, more theatrical rock sound and showed how far she had moved from her Automatic Loveletter roots. It was the kind of pivot that actually made sense.
