Lisa Maffia first made her mark as the standout female voice of So Solid Crew, the UK garage collective whose single "21 Seconds" shot to number one and went Platinum. The track even picked up Best British Video at the BRIT Awards, and the crew's debut album They Don't Know went Platinum too. When she stepped out solo in 2003, she hit the top ten straight away with the Platinum selling "All Over" and followed it up with her debut album First Lady, which earned her back to back MOBO wins for Best UK Garage Act. Since then Maffia has kept herself busy across a lot of different lanes. She set up her own label, Maffia Recordz, signing acts and even a film soundtrack. She reunited with So Solid Crew for the 2010 single "Since You Went Away", which cracked the independent singles top ten. Her most recent music release was "Wah Gwarn" in 2017, previewed on BBC 1Xtra as the lead single from a new album. She has also worked as a presenter, most notably hosting the music cooking show Certified on BritAsia TV in 2019.
