Lisandro Cuxi made a serious impression on French television when he won the sixth season of The Voice: la plus belle voix in 2017, getting all four coaches to turn their chairs during blind auditions with a cover of Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling". That win launched his debut single "Danser", which climbed to number 18 on the French Singles Chart, followed by his debut album Ma bonne étoile on Mercury Records, peaking at number 16 on the French Albums Chart. The Cape Verdean singer, songwriter and dancer kept the momentum going into 2018 by competing in Destination Eurovision, France's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. He won his semi final and secured the international jury vote in the final, though he finished second overall behind Madame Monsieur. Still, it was a strong showing for an artist who had already proven he could hold a stage well before his twenties.
