Lloyd Banks built his reputation as one of the sharpest voices in G Unit, the East Coast rap crew he formed with 50 Cent and Tony Yayo. His debut solo album The Hunger for More landed at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2004, shifting over 433,000 copies in its first week. The single "On Fire" was a top ten Billboard Hot 100 hit, and "Karma" featuring Avant followed it into the top 20. That record set a high bar, and while the follow up Rotten Apple drew more mixed reactions, it still debuted at number three on the chart. His third album H.F.M. 2 (The Hunger for More 2), released in 2010 after a move from Interscope to EMI, was seen as a critical comeback and peaked at number 26. Banks then went independent and dropped The Course of the Inevitable in 2021 to strong critical reception, proving he still had plenty to say more than two decades into the game.
